  11. Double click on the Macintosh Ski Demo icon in this folder to begin your exploration of Utah's resorts and the Greatest Snow on Earth. This is an interactive demonstration version of the software that lets you explore a single resort.

  13. Double click on the Macintosh Ski Presentation icon for a short slide show presentation of the Discovering Utah Multimedia Ski D-ROM(tm).

  15. For best performance quit all other applications before starting the demo.

  17. You can copy the entire contents of this folder to your hard disk and run the Discovering Utah demo from there for best performance.

  21. Requirements for Discovering Utah

  24. Ñ Memory:
  25. You should have at least 4 MB available memory in addition to what is used by your System.

  27. Ñ QuickTime:
  28. Discovering Utah requires QuickTime. If you do not have QuickTime installed on your Macintosh, drag this file from the QuickTime folder on the compact disc into your System Folder.

  30. Ñ╩Monitor:
  31. Discovering Utah is designed to be used on a monitor set to display 256 colors.

  33. Ñ CD-ROM Drive:
  34. The faster your CD-ROM drive, the smoother the performance will be.

Discovering Utah plays directly from the CD-ROM so there is a brief waiting period when starting up and before viewing a new topic or resort. Depending upon the speed of your computer and CD-ROM drive, loading time can range from a few seconds to 2 minutes.  Performance may be improved by following these hints:

  50. Ñ    You should have 4MB of memory available to run Discovering Utah, in addition to the memory used by the System software. Quit all other applications and turn off non-essential extensions before starting your exploration of Discovering Utah. Do not turn off QuickTime.

  52. Ñ    Make sure virtual memory is turned off. (HINT: Select Control Panels from the Apple menu, then double-click on the Memory icon. Select the off button for Virtual Memory.)

  54. Ñ    If you have room on your hard disk, you can speed up loading times by dragging the entire contents of this folder from the CD-ROM to your hard disk. Run the new demo that you have now copied to your hard disk.
